Today I took delivery of the latest editions to the layout fleet. I've been wanting to expand the Operating Railroads on the layout to those that interchanged with the Reading Lines.
The best part about the WM was that it lived on in it's Circus Color Scheme into the Conrail merger era. I'll be able to shift the layout to after April 1976 with multi-road lash-ups.
The SD40 & GP35 are both Athearn RTR models that have been out of production for sometime.
The caboose is an Atlas. Next stage will be to add LokSound - Select Direct decoders to both the SD40 & GP35 with sugar cube speakers.

Beautiful Locos. Should be a lovely splash of color on your railroad. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteThanks Matt, knew you'd like them ;) I've been hunting around for these for over a year now. Jas...
DeleteAwesome! BTW, I see that the link to my blog in your sidebar (blogs I follow) Is no longer updating. I changed the URL and that is why. If you'd like to update it, the new URL is: http://mfrailroad.blogspot.com/
DeleteThanks and keep it up!
Thanks Matt for the updated blog link... Jas.
DeleteThose locomotives looked good in the box and they look even better on the JL&T. Pursuit of realism suggests weathering them but it would almost be a shame to do so because they look so sharp.
ReplyDeleteNow you know why, I wanted that second GP35 from eBay... The circus color scheme is such a great one, just lucky again that it fits perfectly into the layout operating era & area with the Reading.
DeleteHopefully Athearn will re-release them again in the Genesis line? Or I may have to get a custom painted one done...?
